Schedule of Club Runs

• We have three regularly scheduled runs. They are never canceled.

ALL RUNS start in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, at the bottom of the “Rocky” steps, to the right, by the sign with the museum’s hours, and to the left of the statue of Rocky. Tues/Thurs runs also end at the Art Museum, while Saturday runs end at Lloyd Hall, on Boathouse Row, 1/2 mile NW of the Art Museum along Kelly Drive. Map

Everybody is always welcome.

• For all our runs, we split into groups based on pace and distance, so that everybody has somebody to run with.

• We wait back at the museum for all our runners to return.

Saturday Morning Runs

Saturday Morning Runs are now on the regular (9am) schedule.

Regular Schedule: 9am Labor Day to Memorial Day, including the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend.

Summer Schedule: 8am Memorial Day to Labor Day, including the Saturday of Labor Day weekend.

Many runners do the 8 mile loop on West River/MLK Drive and Kelly Drive. Some runners cut the loop short by crossing Strawberry Mansion Bridge for a 6 mile loop. Others turn around on MLK Drive for a shorter run. Folks looking to run long often use the message board to arrange to meet up before the regular run to fit in extra miles.

Everybody is always welcome, regardless of the distance they plan to run or the pace at which they run.

Afterwards, we head to Cosmic Cafe at Lloyd Hall (One Boathouse Row) for coffee/brunch. All are welcome even if you can't make the run, roughly 10:45am regular schedule, 9:45am summer schedule.

Tuesday Evening Runs

Click here to go to the map of the run meetup location.

Tuesday evening runs are at 6:30pm all year round.

Most runners run 4.4 miles out and back on Kelly Drive.

Everybody is always welcome, regardless of the distance they plan to run or the pace at which they run.

We normally head to Bishop's Collar, 24th and Fairmount for drinks and dinner after our Tuesday evening runs. All are welcome even if you can't make the run: 7:45pm. Location of dinner is subject to change and changes will be noted on the yellow banner on the home page.

Thursday Evening Runs

Click here to go to the map of the run meetup location.

Thursday evening runs are hillwork or speedwork, depending on whether it is light or dark at the time of the run (there is no lighting on Lemon Hill). The decision of when to switch from hills to speed or speed to hills is made each season by the Thursday night regulars. There is no set date for this switch. We meet at the usual spot at 6:30pm and proceed to either Lemon Hill for hill work or the 3/4 mile mark at Girard Ave bridge for speed work.

Everybody is always welcome, regardless of their pace or how many splits they plan to do.

Everybody is welcome on Thursday evenings even if they don't plan to do hills or speed.

There's two Hill Work workouts; "Short Hills" and "Long Hills".

Short Hills are 10 splits up Lemon Hill (5 on each side) from the base of the hill at Kelly Drive to where the hill levels off, on the left by the clearing past the gazebo, on the right by the driveway for the mansion. Each uphill split is a little more than 1/10 mile. The left side is a bit longer and less steep and the right side is shorter and steeper.

The Long Hill workout consists of an out and back up to Girard from the kooky three-point intersection about 300 feet up the hill from Lloyd Hall and then a clockwise loop around the face of Lemon Hill that faces the boathouses, followed by a counterclockwise loop and another out and back up to Girard. Generally we alternate between those two workouts from one Thursday to the next.

During Speed Work season, the typical workout is eight 1/4 mile intervals back and forth (4 in each direction) between the 3/4 mile mark (under the railway bridge just past Girard Ave bridge and the big rock) and the 1 mile mark on the Kelly Drive path.

Other unofficial runs also occur. Anyone who has come to our runs and/or activities may lead an ad hoc run or suggest a permanent new run. Please check our message board or Facebook group to see if anything is going on this week.
